John O'Neill spent years as the FBI's top counterterrorism agent chasing Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda, pushing colleagues and superiors to take the growing threat seriously long before most of Washington would listen. The film traces his investigations into attacks like the USS Cole bombing, the bureaucratic turf wars that blunted his warnings, and the frustration that eventually drove him out of the Bureau. It follows him into an unlikely final job: head of security at the World Trade Center, a post he started just weeks before September 11, 2001. Interviews with colleagues, family, and journalists who knew him fill in the man behind the case files, while archival news footage and period photographs place his career against the rising threat he kept flagging. The film's central irony carries the story to its end: the man who spent a decade telling America that al-Qaeda was coming died in the towers he had been hired to protect, on the day he had predicted.
