The Men Who Sell Football

EN · STATUS: [ STREAMING ]

An Al Jazeera investigations team spends two years undercover inside English football, tracing how convicted criminals and shadowy fixers use club ownership and player transfers to move dirty money. Reporters pose as buyers and investors, recording meetings with intermediaries who explain how a football club's finances can be used to disguise the origins of illicit cash, and how third-party ownership rules get quietly bent or broken. The film follows the paper trail through agents, front companies, and offshore structures that connect boardrooms to organized crime networks, naming specific deals and the people who brokered them. Hidden-camera footage carries much of the story, catching subjects describing schemes on their own terms rather than through denial after the fact. The picture that emerges is of a sport wealthy and lightly regulated enough that buying a club can be cheaper, and safer, than laundering money through a bank. It is a procedural expose built entirely from what the cameras actually caught.
