Peliatan, a village in Bali, supplies the performers for this episode, the third in a series on Balinese music and dance. Each segment is introduced by a detail lifted from a Balinese painting, a device that links pieces with no other connection between them. The program opens with a virtuoso solo passage from a gamelan orchestra, then moves to a dance called The Bee Sips Honey, choreographed in 1951. A middle section gathers short excerpts from four separate ensembles, showing the range of styles working musicians in the village can call on. The episode closes with the Monkey Dance, built around a chanting male chorus rather than instruments, and staged here as the culminating piece. There is no narration competing with the music; the footage simply presents each performance in sequence and lets the paintings do the framing.
