Henut Taui, an Egyptian mummy known as the Lady of the Two Lands, sits at the center of a controversy that starts in a Munich laboratory. In 1992, toxicologist Svetlana Balabanova tests tissue samples from Henut Taui and other mummies expecting to find nothing unusual, and instead finds traces of cocaine and nicotine, plants that supposedly did not exist outside the Americas until after Columbus. The film follows Balabanova as her results are dismissed and attacked by the archaeological establishment, and tracks the case through toxicology labs, museum archives, and interviews with skeptics and defenders alike.
