Edgar Cayce works through the 1930s and 1940s as a trance healer, lying down each session to diagnose illness and prescribe remedies for people he has never met, claims he says come from what he calls the Akashic Records. The film lays out his prediction record alongside the healing practice: a stated forecast of the state of Israel roughly fifteen years before it forms, readings tied to the Great Depression, and later claims linking him to the outbreak of World War II and unrest decades after his death in 1945. It follows the standard shape of a prophecy case study, presenting the hits, noting the skepticism from doctors and researchers who found his methods impossible to verify, and leaving the interpretation open rather than resolving it. Cayce's own transcribed readings and the accounts of people who sought him out for treatment carry most of the film, with the tension sitting between an unconventional medical reputation that outlived him and a body of predictions that resists easy confirmation either way.
