Inside DeepMind's London offices, the film follows the researchers chasing artificial general intelligence, with co-founder Demis Hassabis as the through-line from childhood chess prodigy to head of one of the world's most closely watched AI labs. Interviews and lab footage trace the company's path from early game-playing systems to AlphaGo's match against Go champion Lee Sedol, a contest treated here as the moment the outside world understood what DeepMind was building. The film then follows the team into AlphaFold, the project that predicted the 3D structure of proteins, a problem biologists had worked on for decades. Researchers talk through failures alongside the breakthroughs, and the film sits with the unease inside the lab itself: people who believe they are building something enormously useful and are not entirely sure they can control where it goes. It stays close to the scientists rather than pundits, letting the AlphaGo match and the AlphaFold results carry the argument about what this technology actually is.
