The Tinder Swindler
Simon Leviev poses on Tinder as the heir to a diamond fortune, flying women to Amsterdam on his private jet, checking into five-star hotels, and building a life that looks too good to question. The film follows three of his victims, Cecilie Fjellhøy, Pernilla Sjöholm, and Ayleen Charlotte, as they piece together how a man who told each of them he loved her also convinced them to take out loans and credit cards in their own names to cover his manufactured emergencies, draining them of roughly ten million dollars combined. Interviews, phone screenshots, bank statements, and reenacted scenes trace the con from the first swipe to the moment the women find each other online and start comparing notes. Norwegian journalists who first broke the story appear alongside the police investigation that eventually caught up with Leviev, though not before he had moved on to new targets under new names. The result is a step-by-step account of how a fraud like this actually works, told mostly by the people who lived through it.
