Making one kilogram of amphetamines can generate up to thirty kilograms of toxic byproduct, and this film tracks where that waste actually goes. In the Netherlands, Europe's hub for synthetic drug production, police recover around 250,000 kilograms of it a year, and experts believe that is only a third of what gangs actually dump. The film crew visits nature reserves where sludge has been poured straight into the ground, ponds poisoned with dead fish, and farmland where waste gets mixed into liquid manure before being spread on fields. In Germany, reporters get exclusive footage inside the largest drug laboratory ever discovered in the country and examine a case where a specially dug well was used to funnel toxic runoff toward a residential area. The film also follows a Dutch police investigator undercover as he tracks down an illegal dump site in real time. Told through interviews with investigators and scientists alongside on-location footage, it builds a picture of an environmental crime that gets far less attention than the drug trade itself.
