Lennart Nilsson has spent his career photographing what the naked eye cannot see, and this film follows him into that hidden territory. Using specialized microscopic lens technology of his own devising, Nilsson trains his camera on the world beneath ordinary vision, the cellular and microscopic structures that surround and compose living things but stay invisible without his equipment. The film shows him at work adapting and refining his gear, patiently framing shots of subjects that most photographers never attempt, let alone master.
