By 1960, Adolf Eichmann, the SS officer who organized the logistics of the Holocaust, is living under the alias Riccardo Klement on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, believing himself safe. This film reconstructs how Israeli intelligence agents tracked him down and staged the operation that pulled him off a street in Argentina and onto a plane to stand trial in Jerusalem. Archival photographs, newsreel footage, and interviews with historians lay out the plan house by house: the surveillance of his daily bus route, the safe house used to hold him, and the disguise operation that got him out of the country without alerting Argentine authorities. The film also traces the manhunt's back story, from Eichmann's escape from Europe through Vatican and Red Cross channels to his years hiding in plain sight in South America. It treats the operation less as an adventure story than as a reckoning, following the case through to Eichmann's trial and execution, and the debate his capture reopened about how far a nation can go to pursue justice beyond its own borders.
