The Wild Side of Dogs

EN · STATUS: [ STREAMING ]

Sheep dogs working the hills of Sardinia and stray dogs navigating the streets of Bucharest share the frame in this study of canine life across two very different landscapes. The film drops the usual nature-documentary toolkit: no swelling score, no narrator explaining what the animals are thinking. Natural sound carries every scene, from barking and panting to the ambient noise of pasture and city street, and human dialogue is left untranslated on purpose, so attention stays on the dogs rather than on what people are saying about them. The approach treats the animals as subjects in their own right rather than stand-ins for human emotion, watching how a working dog reads a flock and how a stray reads traffic and territory. Sardinia and Bucharest end up functioning as two case studies in how dogs adapt to the environments humans have built around them, one rural and structured, one urban and improvised.
