The 2008 financial crash left banks bailed out with public money and ordinary people angry at a system that rewards a few and destabilizes everyone else. This film follows people in Barcelona, Tallinn, and Jakarta who stopped waiting for governments or banks to fix things and started building alternatives themselves: local currencies that circulate outside the official banking system, social networks that redistribute resources directly, and in one case, activists who target banks and hand the proceeds back to communities. Sociologist Manuel Castells and philosopher Peter Sloterdijk appear throughout, giving the on-the-ground footage a theoretical frame, connecting these scattered local experiments to a larger argument about what happens when trust in financial institutions collapses.
