Tungrus

13 MIN · EN · STATUS: [ STREAMING ]

In a cramped Mumbai apartment, Mr. Bharde buys a baby chick from a street vendor as a novelty for his two cats. The chick grows into Tungrus, a full-sized rooster that refuses to leave, and the film settles into the daily chaos of a family, two cats, and one increasingly aggressive bird sharing a few hundred square feet. Director Rishi Chandna shoots it all with a fixed, observational camera, letting the rooster strut across countertops, peck at family members, and crow at odd hours while the household debates, with visible exasperation and affection, what to do about him. No narrator intervenes; the comedy and tension come entirely from the cramped framing and the family's own arguments about whether Tungrus is a pet, a pest, or dinner. Running just thirteen minutes, it is a tight, specific portrait of domestic life squeezed into too little space, and of a bird that has made himself impossible to remove from it.
