Northern Uganda has spent years under attack from the Lord's Resistance Army, a rebel force that fills its ranks almost entirely with abducted children. This film follows former child soldiers after their release, tracing what happens when a boy or girl who has been forced to kill tries to return to a family and a village. Interviews with community leaders, social workers, and government officials sketch the wider picture: a conflict sustained by kidnapping, where the LRA's fighters are also its victims. The camera does not soften the accounts of violence the children describe, but it also sits with the slower, harder work of reintegration, the awkwardness of a household relearning how to live with someone it once mourned as lost. There is no resolution offered for the war itself, only a record of what it has done to a generation of children caught inside it, and what a small number of them are trying to build afterward.
