Crowdfunding usually pays for gadgets or art projects, but in Ukraine it is paying for war. This short documentary follows volunteers and civilian donors funding drones, night-vision gear, and other equipment for soldiers fighting Russian-backed separatists, after the government proved unable to supply its own troops adequately. Interviews with organizers and volunteers explain how online campaigns and grassroots donation drives turned into a parallel supply chain for the army, including footage of homemade and modified drones being adapted for reconnaissance and even weaponized use on the front line. The film treats this as a case study in how crowdfunding platforms, originally built for consumer projects, get repurposed for military logistics when a state's institutions fall short. It raises questions about accountability and oversight when private citizens are effectively arming a war effort, without offering easy answers. The piece stays close to the people doing the funding and building, rather than staying at the level of policy or punditry.
