Reporter Marcel Theroux travels to Ulaanbaatar, where coal stoves burning in the city's ger districts push winter pollution to more than a hundred times the accepted limit, and follows doctors treating children whose lungs are already scarred by smog. He talks to families who cannot afford to leave and officials struggling to explain why the crisis keeps getting worse each winter. In the second half, Theroux goes to Pakistan to examine the country's blasphemy laws, which carry the death penalty and have been used against children as well as adults. He meets people imprisoned or hiding after accusations, along with the lawyers and activists who defend them at real personal risk, and the campaigners who instead want the laws enforced more harshly.
