Montreal filmmaker Eylem Kaftan returns to Turkey to find out who killed her aunt Guzide, shot dead thirty years earlier in a case the family never fully explained. Kaftan interviews relatives across Kurdish and Turkish communities, pressing them on the silence that has surrounded Guzide's death for three decades, and the answers she gets keep circling back to honor and reputation rather than the police record. The film moves between family homes, rural villages, and the more guarded conversations where relatives deflect or contradict each other, building a picture of a killing that was never really a mystery to the people who lived through it, only one nobody would name out loud. Kaftan's own position as an outsider returning from Canada shapes the film: she asks questions a local relative could not easily ask, and the discomfort that causes is visible on screen. What starts as a search for a murderer becomes an account of how honor killings get absorbed into family history and left unspoken.
