Visualtraveling: The Persian Version

2014 · EN · STATUS: [ STREAMING ]

A crew of skateboarders crosses Iran into Turkey using nothing but buses, trains, and whatever ground transport they can find, skating city squares, empty lots, and stretches of open road along the way. Part of the Visualtraveling series, the film follows the group's zigzag route across the Eurasian peninsula, with Derek Flood assisting behind the scenes. The camera stays close to the skating itself, but the real subject is the terrain in between the tricks: checkpoints, local reactions to a skateboard in places that rarely see one, and the logistics of moving a crew and their boards across a border. There is no narrator laying out a thesis; the trip's structure is the story, one country giving way to the next. It plays as much like a travel diary as a sports film, built around the friction and welcome the skaters find as they go.
