A Russian-made survey of the science and pseudoscience surrounding water's supposedly unexplained properties. The film leans heavily on Masaru Emoto's ice-crystal photography, showing water frozen after exposure to music, prayer, or spoken insults and presenting the resulting crystal shapes as evidence that water reacts to human thought and language. Physicists, chemists, and a handful of theologians are interviewed in turn, some defending mainstream explanations for water's chemistry, others arguing for a kind of molecular memory that conventional science has not yet accounted for. The camera moves between laboratories running crystallization experiments, quiet shots of rivers and oceans, and talking-head segments where the same footage is used to support very different conclusions. The film never quite resolves the argument between the researchers who treat this as measurable physics and those who treat it as something closer to spirituality, and it leaves that tension for the viewer to sort out rather than picking a side.
