Welcome to the Future
Jacque Fresco, founder of The Venus Project, lays out his case for scrapping the monetary system entirely and replacing it with what he calls a resource-based economy, one where the world's raw materials and technology are managed for everyone's benefit rather than sold for profit. The film shows Fresco's models and renderings of circular future cities built on land and over water, along with concepts for automated transportation, cybernated production, and clean energy systems meant to replace fossil fuels. Interviews with Fresco walk through the reasoning behind the design choices: why scarcity is treated as an engineering problem rather than an economic law, and why he thinks poverty and war are symptoms of the current system rather than fixed features of human nature. Architecture and infrastructure concepts get extended screen time, presented less as speculation than as blueprints Fresco believes are already buildable with existing science. The film stays close to advocacy throughout, functioning as an extended explanation of The Venus Project's aims rather than an outside examination of them.
