Ancient India gave the world a number system built around zero, a concept that made modern mathematics possible, and this film traces that invention alongside a run of other firsts that rarely get credited to their source. Surgeons in ancient India performed early plastic surgery, reconstructing noses using skin grafts centuries before European medicine attempted anything similar, and the film shows how those techniques were recorded and passed down. A water clock devised more than 2,000 years ago turns up as a working demonstration of how Indian engineers solved the problem of measuring time without modern mechanics. The program also looks at yoga as a documented system combining physical training with the era's medical and spiritual thinking, and at the production of wax and an organized system of medicine that treated disease with a structured body of knowledge rather than guesswork. Throughout, the film pairs each claim with a demonstration or artifact rather than asserting influence, building a case for how much of daily life still runs on ideas first worked out in ancient India.
