Julia Panic built a career as a journalist and political analyst in Moldova before a stroke of fate forced her to abandon that path and return to the music she loved as a child. Roman Janiszek spent his working life as a miner at the Waldenburg mine in Poland, a job that carried real social status, until the mine closed after communism fell, sending his life into freefall and fracturing his relationship with his daughter. The film moves between the three, letting each tell their own story in interviews shot in the places where it happened, building a portrait of a region defined by sudden, unchosen change.
