Shelly Miscavige, wife of Church of Scientology leader David Miscavige, has not been seen in public since 2007. This film follows journalists and former Scientology members trying to find out what happened to her, piecing together sightings, court filings, and missing-persons reports filed with the Los Angeles Police Department. Interviews with ex-members describe the church's internal security apparatus and its practice of isolating members who fall out of favor, while officials from the organization deny any wrongdoing and insist Shelly is simply a private person.
