Wild Russia

Russia's landmass spans eleven time zones, from the Arctic tundra to the volcanoes of Kamchatka, and this series tracks the wildlife living across that stretch of Europe and Asia. High-definition camera work follows Siberian tigers through Far Eastern forests, brown bears fishing salmon runs, and reindeer herds crossing frozen rivers, with each episode built around a distinct region and its animal population. Kamchatka's geysers and active volcanoes sit alongside Lake Baikal, the world's deepest freshwater lake, and the Caucasus mountains in the west, giving the series a geographic range most nature documentaries do not attempt in one country. Narration keeps the focus on behavior and survival, snow leopards hunting at altitude, seals pupping on ice floes, migratory birds passing through wetlands, rather than on the politics or people of the land itself. The scale of the footage is the point: a single country containing tundra, taiga, steppe, and temperate rainforest, and animals adapted to each of them.
