Search engines are losing their bearings, AI-generated junk is flooding feeds, and filmmaker Mario Sixtus sets out to find out how quickly the open web curdled into what he calls a dumping ground for machine-generated nonsense. He demonstrates how a couple of typed prompts can spit out a meaningless self-help book or a news video built from pure fabrication, and he traces the supply chain behind it: a podcaster in New York who has cloned his own voice and face with AI, and a click worker in Kenya paid little to label the data that trains these systems. Cory Doctorow, Melanie Mitchell, and Mats Schönauer weigh in on how search results, journalism, and basic fact-finding hold up once bots start talking to bots. The film does not pretend to have the fix, but it lays out, scene by scene, how synthetic content is already crowding out human-made information online, and asks what a sustainable internet would even look like from here.
