Wiring the Amazon

2014 · EN · STATUS: [ STREAMING ]

A remote village in the Peruvian Amazon sits at the end of the road for internet access, and this short film follows the years-long effort to change that. Local residents, engineers, and outside organizers work through the practical obstacles of running a connection into a community reachable mostly by river, from securing equipment and funding to convincing skeptical villagers the effort is worth the disruption. Interviews with the people doing the wiring sit alongside scenes of daily village life before and after the network arrives, letting the footage carry the argument about what connectivity actually changes for a place this isolated. The film stays close to one village rather than generalizing about rural internet access, and it does not pretend the outcome is simple: new access brings new dependencies along with new opportunities. It ends without a tidy verdict, showing a community mid-transition rather than a finished success story.
