In Mali, trucks and motorbikes cross unmapped dirt tracks through the Harmattan's furnace-like heat, roads passable only a few months a year. Bolivia's Carretera de la Muerte, the Road of Death, gets its name honestly, and truckers Omar and Jaime navigate its cliffside switchbacks past cyclists and coca farmers who share the same narrow strip of gravel. Canada closes the film with truckers Vlad and Hugh and local driver Scott hauling supplies over ice roads to the isolated village of God's Lake, working in temperatures that drop past minus 60 Celsius. Each segment stays with its drivers long enough to show the calculation behind every risk they take, and the toll the roads take on the people who depend on them.
