The CC-115 Buffalo is one of Canada's signature search-and-rescue aircraft, built to take off and land in distances too short for almost anything else in the sky. This episode follows the plane and its crew through missions in the terrain that makes it necessary: sheer mountain faces, storm-battered coastlines, and wilderness stretches with no roads in or out. Cameras ride along in the cockpit and cabin as crews plan and execute extractions where a normal runway approach is impossible, working against weather that can close a mountain pass in minutes. The film shows the mechanics of the aircraft itself, the short-field takeoffs and landings that define it, alongside the human side of search and rescue: crews weighing risk against the odds of finding someone alive. It is a portrait of a specific machine matched to a specific, unforgiving job, told through real missions rather than dramatization.
