Design for the Theater: Scenery
MIT OpenCourseWare offers this course on scenic design for the theater, covering both current design theory and historical traditions of performance space and audience-performer relationships. Students analyze four play scripts and one opera or dance theater piece in depth, then produce scenic designs for each, with attention to the social, political, and cultural context surrounding the work's original creation and its meaning today.
