Shruti Puri: Erasure Errors and Rydberg Atoms
In this lecture from the Yale Quantum Institute Course on Quantum Error Correction, held at Yale University in July 2025 in partnership with North Carolina A&T, Shruti Puri covers erasure errors, a category of quantum error where the location of the error is known, and discusses how Rydberg atom based quantum systems can be engineered to convert more general noise into this more tractable erasure form. The lecture connects the theoretical error models introduced earlier in the course to a specific physical qubit platform, illustrating how hardware design choices can make error correction more efficient in practice.
