Special Topics in Multimedia Production: Experiences in Interactive Art
An MIT OpenCourseWare seminar on interactive digital art, covering both its history and current debates in the field. Visiting artists present their work and discuss the theoretical and practical choices behind it, and class discussions track how interactive art has evolved alongside changing technology. Students work toward a final interactive art project shown at an exhibition, or alternatively write a short paper on a topic in the field. Materials include the syllabus, readings, and session topics as posted by MIT, released under a Creative Commons license. The course suits students who already have some background in media arts and want exposure to working artists and critical frameworks for interactive and digital art rather than a beginner's introduction to the medium.
