World History (1600-Present)
A comparative survey of world history from the seventeenth century to the present, built by Saylor Academy around the major economic, political, social, and technological trends of the last 400 years. The 50-hour course is structured chronologically and thematically, using primary-source documents and images to trace the emergence of modern nation-states, the interactions between Western and non-Western societies, changing religious and political attitudes, and the rise of information networks from print to digital. It carries a free certificate of completion and college credit recommendation, and the whole thing runs self-paced through Saylor's Moodle-based platform with no cost at any stage. This is a companion to Saylor's earlier-period HIST101/102 sequence, so it works as a standalone modern course or a continuation.
