MIT's writing workshop targets advanced non-native English speakers working in social sciences and architecture who need to write clearly for academic and professional settings. Class sessions analyze different forms of writing side by side, working through grammar, structure, and style problems that recur at an advanced level. Students regularly read and comment on one another's drafts, turning peer review into part of the curriculum rather than an add-on. The course materials, distributed through MIT OpenCourseWare, include the syllabus and assignments used in the actual class. There is no instructor feedback loop or certificate since this is a self-paced OpenCourseWare release, but the exercises and readings give a workable structure for anyone drilling academic English writing in a technical or social-science context.
