Listening, Speaking, and Pronunciation
A high-intermediate ESL course from MIT OpenCourseWare focused on oral and listening skills through detailed pronunciation instruction. Students work on producing accurate and intelligible English, following rapidly spoken speech, and learning common expressions, gambits, and idioms used in both formal and informal settings. The course materials, drawn from MIT's actual classroom syllabus, include structured lessons and practice activities targeting specific sounds, stress patterns, and intonation that often trip up non-native speakers. It suits learners who already have solid grammar and vocabulary but want to sound more natural and understand fast, colloquial spoken English. As with other MIT OpenCourseWare offerings, the materials are free to use, there is no instructor interaction or certificate, and content is released under a Creative Commons license for self-paced study.
