A doctoral-level economics course from MIT OpenCourseWare, jointly taught with Harvard as Economics 2670. The syllabus is organized into four modules: boundaries of the firm, employment in organizations, decision-making in organizations, and structures and processes in organizations. Each class session centers on a handful of leading papers, mixing foundational texts with recent research, preparing students for further scholarly work in organizational economics. Materials include the reading list and session-by-session paper assignments as posted by MIT OpenCourseWare, under a Creative Commons license, free to access with no certificate offered. The course assumes graduate-level familiarity with economic theory and is built for those heading toward dissertation research on firms, incentives, and organizational structure rather than for general audiences.
