An advanced MIT OpenCourseWare course on applied parallel computing for modern supercomputers, focused on separating what is actually achievable on the world's fastest machines from common myths. The course uses the Julia Language, a free open-source high-performance dynamic programming language, for hands-on work throughout. Materials include lecture notes, assignments, and problem sets covering parallel algorithms, performance analysis, and distributed computing techniques on large-scale systems. The course draws on both computer science and applied mathematics, treating parallelism as an interdisciplinary engineering problem rather than a single technique. As with other MIT OCW offerings, all course materials are free to access, with no certificate offered. Suited to students who already have a programming and numerical computing background and want to understand how real supercomputing hardware and software behave under load.
