Special Topics in Media Technology: Computational Semantics
This MIT OpenCourseWare course examines how word meanings can be represented and processed computationally. It covers three main approaches: relational and structural methods such as semantic networks that define meaning through connections between words, grounding methods that tie word meanings to perception and action in the world, and conceptual approaches based on how an agent theorizes about its environment. Lectures and readings compare these frameworks and consider how they might be combined into a more complete theory of lexical meaning.
