Weight Training
MIT OpenCourseWare offers this 12 session physical education course for beginners and for lifters who have experience but lack formal instruction. Sessions cover the biomechanics of common lifts, the specific muscles worked by each exercise, and how to build a training program that progresses safely over time. Materials include session-by-session lecture notes and practical guidance intended for use in MIT's physical education program, adapted here for independent study. The course does not require a textbook and focuses on applied technique rather than theory, making it usable as a reference for anyone setting up a personal weight training routine. As with other MIT OCW offerings, all materials are free to access online under an open license, with no certificate or instructor feedback attached.
