Advanced Speaking and Critical Listening Skills
MIT OpenCourseWare offers this workshop for advanced English learners who need to speak with confidence in academic and professional settings. Sessions target oral presentation of material for group discussions, classroom explanations, teaching demonstrations, and thesis or research proposal defenses, making it especially useful for students planning to teach or lecture in English. The course includes language laboratory assignments that pair speaking practice with critical listening exercises, so students both produce spoken English and analyze how others structure arguments and answer questions aloud. Materials follow MIT's standard OpenCourseWare format of syllabus, assignments, and course structure, free to access online under MIT's open license. No certificate is offered, consistent with OpenCourseWare's self-study model, but the full set of workshop materials and exercises is available for independent learners to work through at their own pace.
