MIT Sloan School of Management examines how healthcare organizations operate in resource-constrained settings around the world. Case studies compare social enterprises and nonprofits that scaled successfully against those that stalled, looking at financing structures, service delivery models, and partnerships with governments and NGOs. The course draws on real organizations working in frontier markets to identify what separates a business model that grows and reaches more patients from one that collapses under its own costs. Materials include course readings, case studies, and assignments analyzing specific ventures in global health delivery. The course is part of MIT OpenCourseWare and is free to access, with no certificate offered. It suits students interested in the intersection of business strategy, public health, and development economics, particularly the question of how innovation in service delivery can substitute for scarce infrastructure.
