Chinese VI (Regular): Discovering Chinese Cultures and Societies
An advanced Mandarin course from MIT OpenCourseWare, continuing the sequence from Chinese V. Conducted entirely in Mandarin, it builds conversational, reading, and writing skills through traditional textbook work combined with student-driven exploration of Chinese speaking societies, drawing on human, literary, and electronic resources at MIT and in the Boston area. Sessions cover Chinese customs, history, and social psychology alongside language mechanics, using reading, discussion, composition, network research, and conversational practice to tie language study to cultural content.
