Communication Systems Engineering
MIT OpenCourseWare offering covering the fundamentals of digital communications and networking. Topics include information theory, sampling and quantization, coding, modulation, signal detection, and system performance in the presence of noise. The networking portion covers multiple access, reliable packet transmission, routing, and internet protocols. Concepts are applied throughout to aerospace communication systems, including aircraft communications, satellite communications, and deep space communications. Materials include lecture notes and assignments from MIT's Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, free to access under an open license with no certificate offered. Suited to students with a background in signals and systems who want to see communication theory grounded in real aerospace engineering problems.
