A three-part MITx series covering the physics of electric and magnetic fields, taught by MIT's Department of Physics and archived on the Open Learning Library. The sequence runs through 8.02.1x Electrostatics, 8.02.2x Magnetic Fields and Forces, and 8.02.3x Maxwell's Equations, building from how charged particles create and respond to fields up to the equations describing electromagnetic radiation. Materials include video lectures, problem sets, and simulations used in MIT's own on-campus 8.02 course. Everything can be viewed and used without creating an account, or you can enroll for free to track your progress through each module. The course assumes calculus and an introductory mechanics course as background and builds toward a full derivation of Maxwell's equations from first principles.
