Computer Graphics
MIT's introduction to the algorithms, software and hardware behind computer graphics, offered through OpenCourseWare and carrying 6 Engineering Design Points in MIT's EECS program. The syllabus covers the graphics pipeline, ray tracing, geometric transformations, texture mapping, shadow generation, sampling theory, global illumination, splines and animation, and color models. Materials include lecture notes, problem sets and programming assignments that build toward rendering increasingly realistic scenes. The course assumes prior programming experience and linear algebra, and it suits students who want to understand what happens between a 3D model and the pixels on screen, from ray-object intersection tests to shading equations. No certificate is offered, but all lecture materials and assignments are freely downloadable.
