CS50's Computer Science for Lawyers
David Malan and Doug Lloyd, J.D., adapt Harvard's flagship CS50 into a ten-week course built for lawyers and law students who need to argue about technology, not build it. Weeks move through computational thinking, cryptography, cybersecurity, internet infrastructure, web development, and database design before closing on legal questions that sit at the intersection of law and technology, each paired with an assignment and case-study discussion. It is designed top-down around legal reasoning about technical decisions rather than mastery of implementation, and every lecture, problem set, and week of material is free to work through on Harvard's own OpenCourseWare site. Submitting assignments through a free edX account earns a CS50 certificate at no cost; a verified edX certificate is a separate paid option.
