MIT Sloan's first-year MBA core course on using data to structure management decisions. The curriculum covers statistical modeling, regression, decision analysis, optimization, and simulation, teaching students to build and interpret models rather than just run software. Materials on MIT OpenCourseWare include lecture notes, problem sets, case-based assignments, and exams drawn from the actual Sloan classroom, letting learners work through the same quantitative toolkit MBA students use for forecasting, risk assessment, and choosing among competing courses of action under uncertainty. The course assumes some background in probability and statistics and builds from there into applied business problems, including inventory decisions, pricing, and resource allocation. As with all MIT OpenCourseWare offerings, there is no instructor interaction or certificate, just the full set of course materials free to use for self-study.
