Economics of Marine Transportation Industries
MIT OpenCourseWare offers this half-semester course on the economics of markets tied to marine transportation, natural resources, and the environment. It covers the structure of shipping and related industries, how competition operates within them, and how policies and regulations shape outcomes. The course examines the relationships among industries, markets, technologies, and national policies, and introduces national income accounting, sustainability, and intergenerational equity as they relate to current economic practice. Materials include MIT's standard OCW offering of lecture notes, readings, and assignments from the original course. It suits students interested in transportation economics, resource policy, or maritime industry structure, and requires no payment to access, since MIT OpenCourseWare publishes all its course materials free of charge under a Creative Commons license.
