Environmental Engineering Masters of Engineering Project
This MIT OpenCourseWare course is a core requirement of the Environmental Masters of Engineering program, built around real case studies rather than lectures. Students work through examples such as the MMR Superfund site on Cape Cod, restoration of the Florida Everglades, dredging of Boston Harbor, watershed trading programs, wastewater treatment design for Brazil, point-of-use water treatment for Nepal, Brownfields redevelopment in Providence, and water resource planning for Cyprus. Seminars from industry experts and computer software tools support group projects and individual theses drawn from these cases. The course runs across a full academic year, spanning Fall, IAP, and Spring terms, reflecting its role as a capstone engineering project experience. Materials available include the syllabus, case study descriptions, and project guidelines, offered free through MIT OCW under a Creative Commons license, with no certificate attached.
