MIT's case-driven introduction to turning plans into action, built for urban planners but useful to anyone managing organizations or projects. Cases span the United States and the developing world, covering urban redevelopment, transportation, workforce development, and housing, and draw on public, private, and nonprofit experience. Topics include building strategy, managing operations, recruiting and developing talent, taking calculated risks, measuring performance, and leading adaptive change where new habits and mental models are hard to instill. The course runs during MIT's Independent Activities Period, a compressed four-week January term, so material moves quickly through discussion-based case sessions.
