Global Entrepreneurship Lab: Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa
MIT Sloan's course pairs student teams with the leadership of growing start-ups in Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa, combining a hands-on internship with in-class sessions on the policies and conditions that shape entrepreneurship in emerging markets. Materials on OpenCourseWare include the syllabus, readings on innovation ecosystems in these regions, and guidance for structuring the fieldwork and consulting projects students complete alongside host companies. The course is one half of a two-part offering, with a companion class covering Asia-Pacific startups also available on OCW. Students work directly with founders and managers, gaining practical exposure to running or advising a new venture outside the United States, while classroom discussion ties those experiences back to broader questions of what makes a startup ecosystem succeed or fail in a developing market.
